Scholarship Benefits
Exemption from paying tuition for the duration of the program, including acceptance, examination, registration, and orientation expenses;
A round-trip economy class ticket from the scholarship recipient’s country of origin or country of residence to Brunei Darussalam prior to the start of the course and a round-trip economy class ticket from Brunei Darussalam to the scholarship recipient’s country of origin or country of domicile after the course is finished;
A personal allowance of $500.00 BND each month
A BND$150.00 monthly meal allowance
A BND$600.00 annual book allowance
Housing at the university’s or polytechnic’s residential college; a baggage allowance, up to a maximum of: $, for the shipment of the scholarship recipient’s belongings back to his or her home country after the program is through.
A transfer of $25.00 BND to an ASEAN nation;
$500.00 BND is sent to a nation outside the ASEAN region;
For the whole length of the Scholarship, comprehensive insurance is provided. The scholarship applicant is strongly advised to purchase supplementary insurance on his own dime before departing for Brunei Darussalam and for the term of the award.
Eligibility Criteria for Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship
Arabic, Malay, or English are required languages.
Citizens of any country, including those in the ASEAN, Commonwealth, and OIC, are eligible to apply.
For undergraduate and diploma programs, applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25. For postgraduate master’s degree programs, applicants must not be older than 35 on July 31, 2023.
Permanent Residents of Brunei Darussalam are NOT eligible for the award.
Without the previous agreement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this scholarship may not be held in conjunction with any other scholarship, fellowship, grant, or loan.
For the term of the scholarship, recipients are not encouraged to bring family members with them.
▪ During the term of the scholarship, the recipient is not permitted to work for pay or to have a position on the staff of any nation’s representative mission in Brunei Darussalam.
▪ The scholarship recipient will be obliged to depart Brunei Darussalam immediately after the program is over.

How to Apply?
In order to apply for a Government of Brunei Darussalam Scholarship, please follow the steps below:
1. You can download application forms by clicking on the following link: APPLICATION FORM
2. Applications must be properly completed and approved by the applicant’s country’s National Focal Point for Scholarships or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
3. A security clearance statement from their National Security Agency(ies) or Police Station is required of applicants. This statement or report certifies that the applicant is free of any civil and criminal charges.
4. Application materials must be submitted electronically to the following address: applybdgs2022@mfa.gov.bn.
5. Additionally, candidates must submit an online application to Universiti Brunei Darussalam at https://apply.ubd.edu.bn/orbeon/uis-welcome/.
6. The receipt of completed application forms and certified copies of all required certificates and papers must be received no later than 1600 hours (Brunei time) on February 15, 2023.
7. The institutions providing the programs may need applicants to complete a written test to determine their proficiency in English, Malay, or Arabic, and to present for an interview at the location(s) specified by the institution.
8. The Brunei Darussalam government reserves the right to deny any applications. The choice about the candidates is final. The judgement reached will not be the subject of any debate or inquiries. Only those who are chosen will receive email notifications.
