Eligibility Criteria

In order to qualify for the Master Mind Scholarship, candidates must be enrolled in a master’s programme at an institution of higher learning in Flanders or Brussels. The ideal applicant should have a Grade Point Average of at least 3.5 out of 4.0, demonstrating outstanding academic success and potential.

The IELTS minimum band score is 7.0, the TOEFL minimum score is 94, or the Common European Framework of Reference level is C1. Candidates must also have a strong command of the English language. They can also present equivalent outcomes from another official language exam that has been approved by the host institution. Online language exams like the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition and IELTS Indicator will also be accepted.

A minimum IELTS overall band score of 6.5, a TOEFL total score of 90, or a B2 level on the Common European Framework of Reference are needed for candidates who want to enrol in a master’s programme in the arts. Online language tests will once again be accepted.

The student’s paperwork will also be thoroughly reviewed academically by the host school. Even if the choice is made after the candidate has been chosen for the Master Mind Scholarship programme, the award can only be claimed if the student is admitted by the host university.

In Flanders, only one higher education institution may nominate eligible applicants. While applying through the Mobility Online service, a student who has been preselected by more than one institution must select just one.

Any applicants are welcome to apply, with the exception of Russian citizens. The preceding degree must have been earned from a college or university outside of Flanders. The Master Mind Scholarship is still available to international students who have previously taken part in credit mobility programmes at a Flemish higher education institution.

With the exception of overseas students enrolling in a specific preparatory programme in preparation for a master’s degree beginning in September 2023, students who are already enrolled in a higher education institution in Flanders are not eligible for the scholarship.

For the academic year 2023–2024, students participating in preparatory, bridge, or distance learning programmes are not eligible for the Master Mind Scholarship. The master’s programme does, however, permit student mobility to partner schools outside of Flanders and Brussels, provided that at least half of the study credits are earned at the Flemish host university.

Payment of the Scholarship
