On the Qatar Foundation’s invitation, Carnegie Mellon Qatar was founded in 2004. The graduation criteria for CMU-Q students are the same as those for students on the main campus. Graduates of CMU-Q are awarded CMU degrees from the Pittsburgh campus. Through a variety of distinctive enrichment options, students at Carnegie Mellon Qatar learn things outside of the classroom. During their four years of college, the majority of students opt to study abroad, and many take intellectual vacations that complement their coursework. Internships give students the opportunity to gain real-world experience that enriches their undergraduate education. More than 50 different countries are represented in the CMU-Q student body, which is quite varied. With their involvement in groups, planning large-scale events, travelling for service and academic purposes, and participating in regional and international competitions, students create a bustling and engaged community. Because of the small student-to-professor ratio, each student receives unmatched personal attention.
